BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — November 23, 2020 – Do you know an experienced Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) with a passion for soybean management? The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) is now accepting nominations for the annual Soybean Master Adviser award, presented by the ISA checkoff program.

Any Illinois CCA whose certification is active, is interested and involved in soybean management, and works with farmers can be nominated. The award is part of ISA’s effort to recognize CCAs for contributions to Illinois soybean production.

“This award is truly a privilege for a CCA, as it acknowledges the significant role that CCAs play in improving soybean production by offering insight and advice on practices to improve yield and profitability,” said Todd Steinacher, ILSoyAdvisor Agronomic Content Coordinator. “To be named the Soybean Master Adviser is a smaller piece of an even smaller pie. The Soybean Master Adviser is awarded to one of the select few who are CCAs.”

ISA is a committed partner of the Illinois CCA program offering multiple opportunities for CCAs to improve their soybean management skills to be the most knowledgeable CCAs in the U.S. ISA also recruits experts to serve as CCA Soy Envoys each year to contribute local, timely soybean management advice and expert insights to ISA’s agronomic website, ILSoyAdvisor.com.

“Being recognized by my peers as a Master Adviser is an honor and a great way to cap a 35-year career in consulting,” said 2019 Soybean Master Adviser and past CCA Soy Envoy Kevin Nelson. “Participating in the ILSoyAdvisor Soy Envoy program allowed me to share problems, tactics, and solutions we were encountering and utilizing in our local area with soybean growers and other CCAs.”

Award winners will be recognized during ISA’s ILSoyAdvisor virtual Soybean Summit events in February. To nominate a CCA, please provide additional information about the nominee by filling out this form. Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of ISA board members, Illinois CCA board members, and university professionals. Nominations are open until December 18.
