ISA Offers Free Summer Agribusiness Management Webinars for Farmers

BLOOMINGTON, ILL—June 12, 2020—A free webinar series this summer promises go-to advice on a variety of farm business management topics. The series, sponsored by the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff program as part of its new Agribusiness Management Program (AMP), will offer eight webinars from July 8 through August 5. This is being done through a partnership with Illinois Farm Business Farm Management (FBFM) and the University of Illinois farmdoc team.

ISA District 1 Director and farmer from Genoa, Ill., Paul Rasmussen, cites agribusiness management resources as a critical operating component for any farm.

“We noticed that farmers have a real need in connecting to resources to help them with financial planning, marketing strategies, land leasing and even succession planning,” Rasmussen says. “ISA’s AMP program makes those educational resources available, and we encourage farm families to participate in the webinars together.”

Interested farmers can learn more about the free AMP Summer Webinar Series and register online at https://www.ilsoyadvisor.com/on-farm/ilsoyadvisor/amp-summer-webinar-series.

ISA’s Director of Ag Innovations, Linda Kull, Ph.D., hopes this online webinar series will provide farmers the necessary resources to compete and grow in today’s marketplace, even when an in-person event isn’t a logistical possibility this summer.

“With everything currently happening in the farm economy, how a family farm manages and plans their business now will determine how they thrive into the future. It’s even more important that farmers have a strong foundation in farm business management that they can put in practice on their farm. We want AMP to be that partner that helps them maximize their farm profitability, grow their family farm wealth, and continue their operation’s legacy for generations to come,” she says.

The AMP team is continuing to plan more educational resources that will address a variety of topics that include:

  • Strategic farm management and planning
  • Succession/transition planning
  • Procurement, Breakeven Points, and Marketing Skills
  • Farm Labor Management
  • Taxes and tax law support
  • Local and global markets
  • Acquisition, Owner/Leasing Structure
  • Financial Management, Accounting, Benchmarking

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) represents more than 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois through the state soybean checkoff and membership efforts. The checkoff funds market development, soybean production and profitability research, promotion, issues management and analysis, communications and education. Membership and advocacy efforts support Illinois soybean farmer interests in local areas, Springfield and Washington, D.C. ISA programs are designed to ensure Illinois soy is the highest quality, most dependable, sustainable and competitive in the marketplace. For more information, visit the website www.ilsoy.org.
