BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – SEPTEMBER 2, 2025 –  The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) recently showcased its new Agronomy Farm in Heyworth, Ill. The Agronomy Farm represents a strategic checkoff investment designed to deliver direct benefits to Illinois soybean farmers.

“The ISA Agronomy Farm addresses critical gaps in agricultural research and provides farmer-driven, relevant, unbiased and practical insights,” said Heath Houck, ISA Soybean Production Committee chair.

By complementing existing university and private research, the Agronomy Farm creates opportunities for long-term, applicable and farmer-centric research. It also serves as a dedicated centralized location to demonstrate trials for soybean, corn and wheat, cover crops, pollinator habitats and nutrient management to policymakers, trade delegations and other leaders.

“The ISA Agronomy Farm serves as a dynamic, controlled, and accessible platform for demonstrating Illinois soy and agriculture to diverse and influential audiences,” said Byran Severs, ISA Board Chairman. “At the end of the day, the farm is a strategic investment to enhance farmer profitability.”

Overall, this asset elevates industry practices and preserves a strong, sustainable future for all producers. By showcasing Illinois soybeans to international buyers and promoting sustainable practices, the ISA Agronomy Farm indirectly contributes to stronger markets and potentially higher prices for Illinois soybeans. The research conducted also aims to provide farmers with actionable information and best practices that can directly improve their yields and operational efficiency.
