This week, ISA's Government Relations and Agronomy teams traveled to the Tri-Town YMCA to talk with kids about cover crops, soil health, soy products, and careers in agriculture. The ISA team was joined by members from the DuPage County Farm Bureau, along with local legislators who were introduced to new perspectives on the soybean and agriculture industry.
ILLINOIS LEOPOLD CONSERVATION AWARD FINALISTS SELECTED
Three finalists have been selected for the inaugural Illinois Leopold Conservation Award. Given in honor of renowned conservationist, Aldo Leopold, the award is presented to farmers, ranchers, and forestland owners who inspire others with their dedication to land, water, and wildlife habitat.
To help curb local food insecurity, the Illinois Milk Producers Association (IMPA), with support from ISA and IL Corn, recently donated more than 2,000 half-gallon containers of milk and 400 half-gallon containers of lactose-free milk to the Central and Eastern Illinois Food Banks.
Precision Conservation Management (PCM) recently released their annual “Business Case for Conservation” in the June issue of the Prairie Farmer magazine. The report provides data highlights regarding nitrogen application, cover crop utilization, and tillage management that are relevant for farmers across the Midwest.
ISA and IL Corn have teamed up to offer the second annual FFA Water Testing Challenge, where participants can learn about the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy and practices that can reduce nutrient loss. The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff and membership programs represent more than 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois. The checkoff funds market development, soybean production and government relations efforts, while the membership program, Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) and the Illinois Soybean Growers PAC actively advocates for positive and impactful legislation for farmers at local, state and national levels.
