NOMINATIONS FOR 2024 ILSOYADVISOR AWARDS NOW OPEN
Nominations are open for the 2024 ILSoyAdvisor CCA Soybean Master Adviser and Dave Rahe Excellence in Soils Consulting awards until October 27, 2023. The CCA Soybean Master Adviser Award recognizes the vital role of Illinois Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) in improving soybean production, offering insights to enhance yield and profitability. The Dave Rahe Excellence in Soils Consulting Award honors an exceptional Illinois CCA for their expertise in soils consulting within the state's soybean production systems, named after former CCA Soy Envoy, Dave Rahe.
ILLINOIS FARMERS’ PERCEPTIONS OF ELECTRIC TRACTORS
Olivia Charles, a student studying Agricultural Communications at the University of Illinois, is conducting a survey to explore the viewpoints of Illinois farmers regarding electric tractors. The responses collected will only be used for research, and the findings will be featured in the January issue of Illinois Field & Bean.
2023 ENROLLMENT FOR THE SOIL AND WATER OUTCOMES FUND ENDING SOON!
If you’re thinking of adding or expanding a conservation practice in your operation, such as reducing your tillage, implementing cover crops, or extending crop rotations, 2023 enrollment for the Soil and Water Outcomes Fund (SWOF) is closing soon. Last year, enrolled farmers earned an average of $34 per acre.
ILLINOIS GRAIN TOUR HARVESTS $30 MILLION IN STATE CROP SALES
A recent tour of Illinois crop fields and agricultural facilities by foreign grain buyers has resulted in millions of dollars being injected into Illinois’ economy. The 2023 Illinois Grain Tour, hosted by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, attracted international buyers from China, Vietnam, Turkey, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico and El Salvador.
The Veterans GSA Federal Surplus Property Program is an initiative of Senator Tammy Duckworth and is administered by Illinois Central Management Services (CMS). This Friday, September 29, at 10 a.m., ISA will host a webinar with CMS to show farmers how to certify, apply, and request property from the federal surplus supply.
