BRIDGE BUNDLING DASHBOARD 

At the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA), we understand that growing a superior product isn’t enough - we must also deliver it to the world efficiently. Bridge Bundling takes advantage of economies of scale by issuing a single contract for the replacement, rehabilitation or repair of multiple bridges. Check out ISA’s interactive bridge bundling dashboard to see the condition of bridges in your county. 

LOCK 14 GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY

ISA board and staff attended the groundbreaking of Lock & Dam 14 Mooring Cell project, which is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP). It will allow barge tows to moor closer to the lock, reducing engine idling, leading to greater navigation efficiency, reduced costs for operators, and less air pollution. ISA helped support this project through its membership with the Waterways Council, Inc.

2023 YOUNG LEADER PROGRAM

Congratulations to Sarah Tweet Landers as she has completed her training in ASA’s Corteva Agriscience Young Leader program! Young Leaders sets the bar for leadership training in agriculture by identifying and training growers to serve as the voice of the American farmer.

FFA WATER TESTING CHALLENGE 

IL Corn and ISA have teamed up to offer the second annual FFA Water Testing Challenge, where participants can learn about the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy and practices that can reduce nutrient loss. There have been many studies done on planting soybeans in April in the Midwest and Illinois. Before you plant in April, ISA Outreach Agronomist, Stephanie Porter, recommends each farmer identify the risks of planting soybeans early and then plan accordingly. Decisions need to be made on seeding depth, seed treatment, and populations, but also communication is needed on seed arrival, field and planter preparation, as well as crop insurance.
