John Lumpe is the Chief Executive Officer for the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) He joined ISA in February 2020. Having previously served as Senior Vice President of FLM Harvest, and Executive Director of the Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Soybean Council, and the Ohio Soybean Council Foundation, Lumpe arrived at ISA with more than 30 years of experience in association management, public relations, strategic thinking, communication, and market development.

Among his first priorities at ISA, Lumpe immediately got to work building bridges, earning confidence among commodity leaders, and growing alliances for collaboration and resource-sharing. He developed a new administrative infrastructure, and a new strategic direction that puts farmers at the center of ISA’s programs and messaging, working to deliver what farmers expect from their checkoff program. 

As CEO, Lumpe is responsible for leading the state’s soybean checkoff programs and upholding ISA’s commitment to achieving maximum profitability and global competitive positioning of Illinois soy. As the number one soybean producing state in the nation, John’s efforts are in the service of expanding Illinois’ opportunities through promotion, education, outreach, and advocating for farm policies to state and federal lawmakers.

Lumpe is a graduate of Walsh College where he earned a bachelor’s in communications and journalism. He and his wife Lisa reside in Bloomington, IL. Together they have two sons, Jack, and Henry.
