Government Relations Coordinator

Matt Johnston is a Government Relations Coordinator for the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA). Matt is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Communications and a concentration in Advertising.

Matt worked on State Representative Tony McCombie’s campaign team as a campaign specialist intern from 2016-2020, where he helped win three election cycles. Additionally, Matt interned for the Carroll County Farm Bureau in the summer of 2020, successfully organizing multiple educational agricultural programs. Most recently, he was a credit analyst for the Savanna-Thomson State Bank, working in the loan department.

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff and membership programs represent more than 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois. The checkoff funds market development, soybean production and government relations efforts, while the membership program, Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) and the Illinois Soybean Growers PAC actively advocates for positive and impactful legislation for farmers at local, state and national levels. ISA upholds the interests of Illinois soybean farmers through promotion, advocacy, research and education with the vision of becoming a trusted partner of Illinois soybean farmers to ensure their profitability now and for future generations.
