Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) continues to dive deeper into the livestock space, particularly in the poultry and turkey industries. Livestock is the number one consumer of domestic soybean meal and according to the American Soybean Association, poultry/turkey accounts for 61 percent of soybean meal consumption nationwide. Strong relationships with turkey and poultry stakeholders are more important than ever.

This year, ISA was proud to sponsor the National Turkey Federation’s campaign to increase domestic demand for turkey, Turkey Smoke. Throughout this project, NTF is working to position turkey as a protein option for barbecue pitmasters on the competition circuit and backyard barbecue enthusiasts alike.

Turkey Smoke’s outreach activities laid additional groundwork for industry stakeholders to expand barbecue offerings and tap into this unique consumer base. NTF and ISA helped sponsor the Windy City Smokeout festival this August in Chicago, Illinois. Leading up to this event, NTF and ISA staff stopped at various BBQ locations in the state to capture content, visit phenomenal BBQ stops, and promote turkey in new ways. We are proud to partner with NTF to continue promoting soy-fed turkey at the state and national level, growing more unique turkey consumption options gaining popularity.

As summer slowly rolls to an end and fall approaches, don’t forget to use turkey products for your next cookout or tailgate!
