2026 State Legislative Priorities
- Address the Illinois estate tax and raise the minimum threshold to an exemption above $4 million and closer to the current Federal rate.
- Reform farmland property taxes by focusing on Property Tax Extension Law Limit (PTELL) to reduce the overall tax burden.
- Increase state funding for conservation by growing programs such as Fall Covers for Spring Saving, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and Illinois Extension as support for Illinois farmers.
- Increase support and funding for conservation in Illinois through cooperation with traditional and non-traditional agriculture stakeholders.
- Lead and support public policy efforts to ensure Illinois remains a leader on soybean-based biodiesel production and use.
2026 Federal Legislative Priorities
- Pass remaining titles of Farm Bill provisions to address crop insurance inequities, streamline conservation funding, and economic certainty.
- Support science-based, data-driven decision making around food and health policy as it relates to agriculture practices.
- Support legislative and administrative policies that provide a preference for domestic soy-based feedstocks in the biofuel industry.
- Support policies that maintain and expand competitiveness, quality, and markets of US soybeans and US soy products.
