2025 20 Under 40 Farmer
About
Matthew DeSutter of Woodhull, Illinois, is a fourth-generation corn and soybean farmer who works alongside his dad, uncle, and cousin to contribute to his family’s legacy. A graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Agricultural Business, Matthew brings both education and hands-on experience to his farm, while also staying active in his community as a high school and collegiate umpire and referee. Matthew has shown leadership in many ways – whether through programs like Illinois Soybean Ambassadors and other leadership programs, or by keeping his family farm running strong so his dad can continue to serve the border ag community. Inspired by both his dad and grandfather, Matthew is committed to passing on the farm to future generations while also currently welcoming others to experience it firsthand – whether that be to ride with him during harvest or come out and visit. He’s passionate about innovation, efficiency, and new uses for crops, and hopes his role inspires the next generation to understand and appreciate agriculture.
