Austin has enjoyed looking through past winners and seeing names of farmers he has looked up to as role models in the industry, he feels honored to be a part of such an amazing program. Looking forward to the 2024 crop year, Austin is excited for the growth his farm is experiencing. They have hired new employees, as well as the personal growth in his knowledge and farming skills. O'Neall grew up farming with his grandfather, uncle, cousin, and father. He observed each of their strengths in management, and how they handled stressful situations. His family has taught Austin to be thankful for everyday of farming, good or bad, each day is a gift. He aims to continue to find better ways to improve his farm by looking at field health, improving yields, and lowering input costs without disturbing the productivity of his land.
One quote his father shared that stuck with him is, "this is OUR CROP." It doesn't matter who plants it, sprays it, or combines it. Austin has built a team and the success belongs to the whole team. The best part of farming for Austin is doing something different every single day. Whether the day brings tucking, scooping bins, planting, spraying, or harvesting, it's always different. He also loves the interactions he gets to have with his coworkers every day. They are a big family, and he loves getting to work with some of what he considers the best crew in the world.
