James Martin is a fifth-generation farmer from LaSalle County who resides in Pontiac, Ill., where he produces soybeans and corn. He is treasurer for the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA), a district director and member of the ISA Production Committee. He has a bachelor's degree in ag industries from the University of Illinois and also attended Illinois Valley Community College. Along with farming, he operates an independent insurance agency and income tax service and holds the Chartered Life Insurance Underwriter designation from the American College of Pennsylvania. He previously was an American Soybean Association DuPontYoung Leader and Illinois SoyLeader. He and his wife, Lisa, have two children.
