ISA Hires New Outreach Agronomist and Agronomic Programs Coordinator

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) has named Stephanie Porter as Outreach Agronomist and Deanna Burkhart as Agronomic Programs Coordinator.  As the Outreach Agronomist, Porter will be working on behalf of Illinois soybean farmers in the development and the implementation of ISA’s agronomic outreach programs for farmers, retailers, and agronomists. As the Agronomic Programs Coordinator, Burkhart will work on behalf of Illinois soybean farmers by supporting the agronomy team coordination of ISA funded research trials, master conservationist logistics, in-field activities, and Utilization committee logistics while implementing mission-driven objectives.


Illinois Farmers Attend American Soybean Association (ASA) Agriculture Communications Team Training

ISA sent two Illinois farmers to Washington D.C. this week where a select group of grower leaders from across the country took part in a two-day training to become members of the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) Agriculture Communications Team (ACT). Daryl Cates, Vice President of the American Soybean Association and Columbia, Ill. farmer attended as well as founder of Seed Life and Virden, Ill. farmer, Katie Dowson.


Embassy of the People’s Republic of China Attend Illinois Soybean Tour

ISA hosted members the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China on a tour to highlight Illinois soybean production. Their visit kicked off at ISA’s Lombard office on Monday August 1st. The delegation then went on to visit ISA Chairman, Steve Pitstick’s farm in Elburn ending the day at CHS in Morris, IL where they were given an in-depth river facility tour. Wednesday, their tour continued to DeLong Joliet facility in the morning before heading to Stan Born’s farm in Lovington, IL.

 2023 the “Year of the Farmer”

The ISA board of directors recently approved funding to join other farmer-led organizations involved in the Illinois Farm Families coalition in a year-long campaign celebrating Illinois family farmers and the contributions they make to their communities. The campaign will kick off in spring 2023 with an advertising campaign and will continue with community activations, all highlighting that 96 percent of Illinois farms are family-owned and operated. Collaborating partners include the Illinois Beef Association, Illinois Corn Marketing Board, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Pork Producers Association, Illinois Soybean Association, and Midwest Dairy. Soil and Water Outcomes Fund Enrollment Open

The enrollment period is now open for farmers interested in participating in the Soil and Water Outcomes Fund. The eligible region for enrollment has expanded this year. Click here to determine eligibility and enroll before Sept. 1.
