Illinois Soybean Growers Thanks House for Biodiesel Support

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- December 17, 2019 – Today the Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) is pleased that the House of Representatives passed legislation that includes extending the federal biodiesel tax credit, which expired in 2017, through 2022.

“Biodiesel is a vital market for Illinois soybeans and adds value to every bushel that we produce. We’re thrilled to see long-term support from the House for the biodiesel tax credit. This removes some of the uncertainty that the industry and our farmers have been facing,” said Illinois Soybean Growers President Doug Schroeder, who grows soybeans near Mahomet, Ill. “Biodiesel also contributes to cleaner air and fewer greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while supporting jobs in Illinois. We now ask the Senate to support the biodiesel tax credit.”

Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) is a membership organization serving more than 43,000 Illinois soybean growers.
