On its way to mailboxes this week, the October issue of Illinois Field & Bean, “Growing Conversation About Soy: The Influencer Issue” will bring focus to the organizations and individuals influencing Illinois’ agronomic landscape. The cover story will profile “Gather Around the Table,” an influencer event designed to engage urban food companies around sustainable food production. Readers will also enjoy features such as, “Educating Lawmakers on the Impact of Biodiesel;” a story on the urban biodiesel project and educating Chicago area lawmakers and decision makers about the impact on biodiesel. And “Five Influencers You Should Know” will profile the top Illinois agribusiness influencers who are making their mark on the ag-scene.

ILSOYBEANS HARVEST UPDATE
According to USDA NASS, soybeans in Illinois are 32% harvested for the week ending October 3.

BREAKFAST + BIODIESEL FARMER EVENTS
ISA is hosting four Breakfast + Biodiesel events this harvest season to provide farmers with a well-deserved, hearty morning meal and encourage them to fuel their bottom line with biodiesel. This week-long road trip will include stops at four Illinois grain elevators: 

- Tuesday, October 12th – Roanoke Farmers Coop in Roanoke, IL
- Wednesday, October 13th – Premier Cooperative in Thomasboro, IL 
- Thursday, October 14th – M&M Service Company in Litchfield, IL
- Date TBD – Central Grain Co. in Belvidere, IL

Along with a soybean-centric breakfast burrito and coffee w/soy or dairy creamer options, ISA will use the opportunity to share biodiesel education and obtain additional insights into farmers’ perceptions of biodiesel.
