ISA'S FIGHT FOR TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS
ISA is on the front lines to ensure the public is educated around the importance of transportation infrastructure investments, which impact our state, our industry, and our economy. Our rural infrastructure in Illinois needs to be resilient handling weather, climate, congestion, and other disruptions. Todd Main, Transportation Professional for the Illinois Soybean Association, reports that eight-percent of all rural bridges in Illinois now are listed as “structurally-deficient” and many have weight restrictions. Most recently we saw flooding cause a bridge collapse in Seneca, Illinois, adding to transportation complications. We have benefited from infrastructure investments from prior generations, and it’s time we do our part. Investments in roadways and waterways strengthen resiliency of the network. Illinois farmers remain competitive as result of our low-cost transportation system, and high-quality soybeans. But we risk losing our advantage if we don’t act soon.

Ambassadors will develop skills and qualities that will prepare them for future leadership roles in the soybean and agricultural industry.
