Pork and Poultry Exports: Mexico
Mexico has a growing appetite for U.S. pork and poultry products, as demonstrated over the past 10 years. The Illinois Soybean Association checkoff program funds product promotions in Mexico through the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) and the U.S.A. Poultry and Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) to support this growth. Efforts like promoting pork dishes and sponsoring technical workshops for the foodservice industry have contributed to strong demand in Mexico.
Pork and poultry production consume 88% of the soybean meal fed in the U.S. and nearly 92% of the soybean meal fed in Illinois. And so, growing demand for high-quality U.S. meat and poultry products translates to growing local demand for soybeans.
