Soil health is defined as a balanced, fully-functioning soil system. Traditionally, farming has focused on managing nutrients to keep soils in high productivity. Now, the discussion has shifted to including soil biology. Soil labs are offering new tests, including soil respiration, to gauge soil health.  Dr. Will Brinton, owner of Woods End Soil Laboratory and inventor of the Solvita® soil respiration test, will use his more than 30 years of experience to explain what is meant by these new tests and how can they be cost-effectively integrated into common nutrient programs. He will show how a new biological report that combines nutrients and biology together can be used to monitor soil health and improve fertilizer rates.
