Soy/Swine Nutrition Program
Soybean meal has been the preferred supplemental protein in swine diets for more than 50 years. But competition from other countries has increased, and new protein alternatives have been developed. As a result, U.S. soybean farmers must find ways to remain competitive.
The Checkoff-funded Soy/Swine Nutrition Research Program allows researchers to develop long-term strategies for improving the fundamental nature of soybean meal used in swine diets. The information gathered in the program will provide guidance to soybean geneticists, crop specialists, soybean farmers, pork producers, and soy processors. It will also help identify specific soybean varieties that can be selected to produce the best soybean meal.
