Nominate a CCA for Soybean Master Adviser Award

BLOOMINGTON, ILL. – October 30, 2017 – Do you know an experienced Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) in Illinois who has a passion for soybean management?

Nominate him or her for the annual Soybean Master Adviser award, presented by the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff program. The award is part of ISA’s effort to recognize CCAs for their contribution to soybean production in Illinois.

“CCAs are leaders in Illinois soybean production and trusted partners with our farmers,” says Linda Kull, ISA director of strategic research programs. “Our focus is to optimize technology adoption and farmer profitability. Working with CCAs to improve management practices across the state directly impacts farming operations, and we want to recognize this partnership.”

Interested Illinois CCAs whose certification is active, and who are involved in soybean management can be nominated. The award will be presented to the winning CCA at the ILSoyAdvisor Soybean Summit in Springfield, Ill., on Jan. 11, 2018. This is the second year the award has been given. CCA Kris Ehlers with Ehler Bros. was last year’s recipient.

ISA also partners with the Illinois CCA program to recruit CCAs to serve as CCA Soy Envoys. Envoys contribute local, timely soybean management content to ISA’s agronomic website, ILSoyAdvisor.com. ISA leads efforts to expand opportunities for CCAs to improve their soybean management knowledge and skills so that Illinois CCAs can be the most knowledgeable soybean advisers in the U.S.

“This effort helps keep farmers engaged and focused on soybeans as more than a rotational crop,” says CCA Soy Envoy Stephanie Porter, from Taylorville, Ill. “The CCA Soy Envoy program and Soybean Master Adviser award are great ways for CCAs to get involved, earn recognition and further develop their careers.”

To nominate a CCA for the award, complete the nomination form, provide a few examples of work and explain why the CCA deserves the award. The Soybean Master Adviser award winner will be selected by a panel of ISA board members, Illinois CCA board members and university professionals. Nominations are open until Dec. 10, 2017.  Visit ilsoy.org/master_adviser to learn more and download the nomination form.

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff and membership programs represents more than 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois.
