Do you know an outstanding Illinois Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) who excels in soybean management? Nominate him or her for the first Soybean Master Adviser award, presented from the Illinois Soybean Association checkoff program (ISA).

Certified Crop Advisers (CCA) play a significant role in soybean production in Illinois. They are a grower’s trusted adviser and offer insight and advice on production practices and strategies to improve yield and profitability. The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) recognizes the important role CCAs play in improving soybean management.

ISA enlists CCAs to serve as 'Soy Envoys' who blog on soybean management on the, ISA's agronomic focused website. ISA is also leading effort to expand the opportunities for CCAs to improve their knowledge and skills on soybean management. Now ISA wants to recognize an individual CCA for his or her contribution to soybean production in Illinois by awarding annually a Soybean Master Adviser award.


To be eligible a nominee must be an active Illinois CCA working in areas related to soybean production. The potential nominee can serve as an agronomist for an ag retailer, distribution channels, chemical or fertilizer manufacturer or seed company or work as an independent crop consultant. 

To begin the nomination process complete the nomination form (link here) and submit it to Jayne Godfrey, ISA communications coordinator (email) or mail to the Illinois Soybean Association at 1605 Commerce Parkway, Bloomington, Ill. 61704. As part of the nomination process you will have to identify the CCA, list his or her CCA number, ask them a few questions and write why you feel this CCA is qualified for the Soybean Master Adviser award. Completed nominations must be received by email or postmarked on or before January 29, 2017. A review panel of ISA directors and staff, Illinois CCA board members and University of Illinois staff will review the nominees. The successful nominee will be announced at the Peoria Soybean Summit on February 16.
