ISA Launches Pod to Plate Curriculum (6-21-2010) The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) recently unveiled a new comprehensive Pod to Plate curriculum that was created for children in fourth through eighth grades. Pod to Plate includes an educational website as well as related materials for teachers to use. Funded by the soybean checkoff, Pod to Plate will enable educators to teach children about soybeans as they are produced, transported and processed into food and other uses, including aquaculture and soy biodiesel. Throughout the summer, ISA will be presenting Pod to Plate to teachers at educators' workshops throughout the state.
Illinois Soybean Association Crop Production Scholarship (1-14-2010) New scholarships for the study of crop sciences are now available to incoming and transfer undergraduate students, as well as to graduate students, thanks to a cooperative effort between the Illinois Soybean Association and departments at both Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. ISA Seeks Leaders for Soy Ambassadors Program (7-23-2010) Application Deadline Extended to August 1, 2010!
The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) is now recruiting farmers for the Soy Ambassadors Leadership Program. Created for those who want to take an active role in the soybean industry, the program is targeted toward soybean farmers interested in sharpening their leadership skills. By becoming a Soy Ambassador, participants gain expertise, exposure and a global perspective while having the opportunity to travel abroad and learn new skills at no cost to them.
Yield Challenge Moves Forward (4-21-2010) Plans for the 2010 Yield Challenge are moving forward as teams continue to register and make final plans for their plots. Soil tests are starting to come in and teams, which now have until May 15 to register, are reviewing data that will be collected as part this new program.
Planting Prompts Soybean Growers to Commit Their Crop to Nourishing Children (4-9-2010) Simple Process to Support World Soy Foundation’s Acre Challenge
As soybean growers put seeds in the ground this spring, they are also taking action to ensure their crop nourishes hungry children. Farmers are giving the value of an acre of soybeans to the World Soy Foundation’s Acre Challenge. The process is simple even though many of the children are thousands of miles away in developing countries.
Resource Added to Soybean Checkoff Web Site (2-16-2010) A Biotechnology Library on www.unitedsoybean.org has recently been added to the “Programs” section. This resource provides references, facts and research on biotechnology, an important tool in helping U.S. farmers increase productivity.
Yield Challenge Seeks Participants (10-5-2009) The Illinois Soybean Association has launched a challenge designed to make Illinois soybean growers the global leader in soybean yields.
