Grain Handlers Implement New Electronic Logging Devices

Truck drivers are now being required to replace their paper logs with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). These ELDs are designed to improve road safety by more accurately tracking a driver's time behind the wheel.

Truck Length Uniformity

Illinois farmers can more efficiently transport crops to market now, thanks to a new Illinois law that took effect Jan. 1. Bumper-to-bumper truck length has increased from 55 feet to 65 feet, which makes truck length on local roads uniform with the length allowed on the state highway system.

Lock and Dam Maintenance

The state's aging locks and dam system that allow barges to move up and down waterways are not in good shape. That’s why industry partners are working on innovative solutions for waterway infrastructure improvements.

    Roadway and Bridge Improvement Calculator
    The calculator, a customizable online service intended to help local communities better plan road and bridge projects, allows communities to save time and money so that more financial resources can be put toward the actual improvement of roads and bridges supporting soy transport.

    ISA Secures $713,000 for Illinois Container Project
    An 18-month Illinois Container on Barge Shuttle Project will provide shuttle service for customers moving containerized exports like soybeans between southern and northern Illinois, giving access to the Union Pacific and BNSF rail ramps in Joliet. The grant was underwritten through support of ISA with checkoff funded research and execution in writing the proposal.
