Student teams are also encouraged to sign up for the 2012 Yield Challenge. The team with the highest percent yield increase over their local county average will win cash awards for their school. 

The Illinois Soybean Association pays the entry fee for student teams.

Who can participate?

Students, colleges, FFA chapters, faculty and other academic professionals may participate. Yields, cropping history, and production information will be included in the Yield Challenge 2012 management summary.

What do we hope to gain?

  • Reveal management practices necessary to maximize soybean yields
  • Encourage use of new crop management strategies
  • Provide useful data to researchers, agribusinesses and growers for improving yield potential

What do I get for participating?

  • Soil testing for nutrients in both plots
  • Plant tissue testing for nutrients in both plots
  • Soil analyses for Soybean Cyst Nematode egg counts and SCN Type testing
  • Protein and oil analyses of grain samples taken from both harvested plots
